Luxury Hotels in Equatorial Guinea

Luxury hotels are uncommon in Equatorial Guinea, but the country has just constructed a multimillion dollar resort city to host African leaders called Sipopo. The complex features 52 luxury presidential villas, a conference hall, an artificial beach, a luxury hotel and the country's first 18-hole golf course. The project took two years to construct and was intended for an African Union (AU) summit that will last just 1 week.
The president of Equatorial Guinea, Teodoro Obiang Nguema, inaugurated Sipopo with much fanfare last week. The resort is located 20 minutes from the center of the capital city, Malabo, and features its own landing strip, heliport, hospital and buildings for banquets and events. Located in the shadow of Mount Cameroon, the hotel has a jacuzzi, heated pool, sauna fitness center and the country's first spa , the Sofitel Malabo Sipopo Le Golf.
